CC2510: programming the CC2510

Part Number: CC2510

We have planned to use CC2510 device and purchased the device and associated components.

I request two details listed below.

1) There may be change in temperature specification for our system, may be operating temperature

up to 100 deg C.

If we move to some other device of similar nature, whether the program we develop for the

device can be portable to other device.

2)  Whether i need IAR Embedded workbench for the program development and download to device.

or whether with MATLAB toolsets(embedded coder), it can be programmed.

    The max operating temperature is 85degC, as specified in the datasheet: https://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/cc2510 .
    See "4 Operating Conditions".

    If we move to some other device of similar nature, whether the program we develop for the

    device can be portable to other device.

    CC2510 may be ported to other devices, but I estimate the porting effort would be high, especially porting to newer devices like CC2340.

    2)  Whether i need IAR Embedded workbench for the program development and download to device.

    IAR is required.

    Can you share further what your application requirements are? And why CC2510 is chosen?
    In general, I would recommend starting new projects with our newer devices, as the Tools/software for the newer devices are actively maintained.

    the application is to send a short burst data wirelessly with a range from 5 meter to 300 meter from

    one device to another device, one device is moving, the other is stationary. The stationary device is one device only, the moving device can be many. The stationary device may send same data to many moving devices or unique data to each moving devices.

    I thought proprietary wireless device may fit this application, so selected this device.

    The communication is two way, the requirement is small form factor, low cost and low power consumption device,

    This application may go for mass production. so the selected device should be in production in next 5 years.

    Also the objective is, the wireless device should need minimum components for its operation to reduce the real estate requirements, and BOM reduction for cost reduction.

    Please suggest a right device for this application.

    If range of 300meter is required, I recommend a Sub1-GHz device. From physical perspective you would get longer range than 2.4GHz band.

    This application may go for mass production. so the selected device should be in production in next 5 years.

    We have a variety of devices supporting Proprietary RF, both in 2.4GHz and Sub1-GHz. Given your requirements, I may recommend a CC13xx device.     A module or SIP device should help. These have integrated components which should reduce BOM item count and board space.
