Hi TI.

I was looking for a BT4.0 to BT4.2 module that can work with HCI and has about 18+ dB transmission power.

I saw that you have CC2564 chip that has only 10dB Transmission power.

I want to add the CC2592 chip and I was wondering, before I order the evaluation board, if they even can work together.

Is that something I can achieve with those chips?

If you have another IC's that can transmit about 18+ dB.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for reaching out.

The CC2564 device is a dual Bluetooth device (i.e. supporting both Bluetooth LE and Bluetooth Classic), but you only mention Bluetooth LE ("4.0 to 4.2"). May I kindly ask if you then need Bluetooth Classic support?

For Bluetooth LE only device, I can suggest the following:

CC2652P alone
CC2340R + CC2592

The CC2564C unfortunately will not work with the CC2592 however you could use the CC2595

I will order CC2564MODNEM with CC2595EVM and test them together.

also, At CC2564 DS its mentioned - NRND. and in TI website it says Active. just want to validate that the datasheet is wrong ?

Hi Michael,

The only CC2564 that is recommended for new Designs is the CC2564C all other instances of the CC2564 ( CC2564B, CC2564MOD) are not recommended as the BT SIG no longer supports the BT core spec those chips were designed for. However, this is only important if you care about being certified by the BT SIG and having the BT sticker on your device. Unfortunately TI does not have a Module for the CC2564C however, we do have third party partners that created a mod with the CC2564C inside such as BDE and Panasonic which you could leverage.

Thanks for your reply.

I received the module CC2564MODNEM evaluation board and I am trying to make it work with my Nvidia Jetson NX Xavier SOC.

I connected it to the Xavier with UART 3 pins (TX,RX,GND,VCC).

Used the RF1 and RF2 for those pins.

And configured the Evaluation board as this - J2 disconnected, J4 connected, J3 disconnected, J1 connected.

I am getting the LED to work on the evaluation board, And I see the Xavier TX (Evaluation RX) data working when I send message. But I can't receive any message from the CC2564.

Do you have any guide that can work with my Xavier board ?

Do you have any idea why that didn't work ?

Hi Michael,

What Baud rate are you using for UART? The device default is 115200.

is there a guide for using it with arduino or rpi? I just want to make sure that its even working.. before trying it on my Nvidia.

Hi Michael,

There is not a guide, however we do have a bluetooth stack we support for linux hosts called bluetopiaPM.

The issue here however is that it is built for arm processors which im not sure you would be able to leverage on your nvidia board.

If you want to just test the HCI/UART functionality of the device you could use HCI Tester to control our device.

You will need a 1.8V USB to ftdi uart cable

should the device work with ESP32 or Arduino uno?

Also, going back to my Nvidia Jetson Xavier card. I was trying to connect the CC2564 to Nvidia to TTY1.
I gave it 3v3, jumpered the J1,J2,J4 at CC2564MODNEM.
connected only the TX to RX and RX to TX

connected the GND between them.

thats all I connected between my devices.

I tried to run a function - sudo udevadm monitor --property --subsystem-match=tty

in order to monitor TTY devices that connect and disconnect to my Nvidia.

I couldn't monitor any device on my Nvidia.

Is that a prior test to BluetopiaPM?

I think it should work before working with bluetopiaPM, correct me if I am wrong.

We also try to run
sudo hciattach /dev/ttyTHS1 texas 115200 noflow

And I couldn't initial the device.

Hi Michael,

Yes you can connect 3.3V if you use the RF pins.

If you are using linux are you setting the dts file correctly to connect to a UART instance on your board?

Does your board have the slow clock on it (it does by default)

Are you sending proper HCI commands? I am assuming you are using BlueZ if not bluetopia

No, the cc2564 is its own certified controller that will work with any certified bluetooth stack?
