CC2500 Self-made modules Problem.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2500, TEST2

Hi,Dear ti

I have a Question. About the CC2500 issue.

We made a CC2500 module By third party.

But when we testing , there is a problem happen.

The Third party made CC2500 module can’t communication With TI EZ430 Tools!!!

No matter what TX or RX, GDO0 no any Active. Even the Register setting the same with

EZ430& Third party made CC2500 moudle.

But if TX&RX all use the Third party CC2500 module, it’s OK!!!

So I want to know, This could happen?

TX&RX all CC2500, But PCB &Antenna Design not the same.

Then cause Different module can’t communication??

  • Hunter,

It sounds like you have a frequency offset between your module and the TI EZ430. Do you have a spectrum analyzer? If so, check the frequency of both HW platforms when out putting the same frequency.

    -Per H

  • hI Per H

    Thank for you help First.

But I use the Smart RF Counter Test The TX\RX Frequency of Both(TI EZ430 & Third party 2500 module).

But The Frequency all in 2432.5MHz or 2432.6MHz.

    Seem like not frequency offset.

  • Does the module use the same crystal and crystal loading capacitors as the EZ430 modules?  The programmed frequency depends on the exact crystal frequency which can be off if the crystal loading is incorrect or if the crystal has a different tolerence than the EZ430 module.  So even when programmed to the same frequency, the actual frequency is different.  The spectrum analyzer can measure the absolute frequency and see if offsets are the problem.
