hi
i am doing a college project on library automation project on my college so i like to use ti products so can ti can give me support and what kind of support do i get?
RFID Based Library Automation with wireless 2.4GHz 802.11b wireless communication.
In
a library, the borrower picks up a book and goes to the librarian. The
librarian enters the borrower's & book details into the database and
issues the book. While the librarian is busy with this work there are
chances were certain malpractices like theft can be conducted. The goal
of this project, library automation is to automatically issue books and
provide security against theft.
In simple words Library Automation
can be defined as the use of electronic systems to perform jobs like
issue of books, entry of borrower's & books details into the library
database and provide security against theft automatically .Here we have
opted to use ISO/IEC 15693 protocol RFID tags,13.56MHz RFID gate reader
antenna DL8220,802.11b wireless communication for implementing the
project. These components especially RFID tags & RFID gate reader
have been selected due to their low price & reliability. The wireless
communication system Wifi(802.11b) has be chosen due to their wide
availability & accessibility.
In this project library automation
is achieved by the following techniques.RFID tags (ISO/IEC 15693) are
pasted on to each book in the library. The borrower picks up a book and
passes along an RFID reader displaying the book & his/her library
card embedded with RFID.The RFID reader detects them and transmits the
data wirelessly to the computer and gets added into the library
database. The book is issued & the borrower leaves. At the exit
there are RFID gate Antenna (DL8820) which sounds an alarm if the book
is not issued. A quick photograph is taken and the thief is caught
before he/she even leaves the library.
this is details
Hi Joju,
Sure, we can provide support for your application. It sounds like you have the basic system understanding. What kind of information do you require from TI?
I would be a bit cautious of using a "low cost" off the shelf gate antenna reader system like the DL8220. I know nothing about this system and they don't offer any details on the Daily RFID website. Do you have any details? Does it include a reader inside as well? If so, what is the output power? Are the two antennas multiplexed? Do they specify the read range or gate width. Be sure that they specify the range for any orientation of the tag or you may be disappointed. Parallel orientation will attain great range while perpendicular will be significantly less.
For these applications that require a gate antenna type of system, I recommend the Feig long range gate antenna reader systems. I would not consider this a low cost system, but I have used the Feig products before and they are top of the line in performance and quality.

dear sir,
we can't race that much money for buying a rfid antenna from fegi we are preferring a low cost one.
i saw DL8220 but i thing it can't be trusted no?
what about assembling one is it possible. if it is what all product of ti can be used
i got a document which i was attaching with this.
do i get student grand or discount for your product?
thank you for replay

Joju,
DL8220 may perform just fine, but I have no experience with this product and they offer no real data on the website that I could find. If they have provided you some data and you feel comfortable using this product, then use it by all means. Designing a large gate antenna like this is no trivial task, so if they have a low cost solution that works for your needs, I would suggest using this.
You could design your own gate antenna as described in your document, but you will still need a high power reader to properly drive these antennas and not have read holes. Gate antennas generally need at least 4W output power from the reader. TI offers a low output power(200mW) reader device, TRF7960A. The only high output power readers that I have experience with and could recommend are the Feig readers. I am not aware of any low cost high output power 13.56MHz reader.
I did find a Feig LR2000 reader on ebay that is starting at $200. This may be an option for you if the bidding does not go too high.
Dear sir,
i won the bidding, thanks for suggestion
so can you help me for making the antenna gate ?
i got one document but i thing it is not enough can u please suggest some good documents and tools for it?
Joju,
For the gate antenna design, please see the app notes below. In the HF Antenna Cookbook, there is a 1000 x 1000 antenna reference design assembled from copper tube, which is probably close to the right dimensions and the copper tube will be durable.
