What do I need to use the Packet Sniffer?

Hello,

I want to use the SmartRF Packet Sniffer on a 868MHz frequency. At the moment I am confused which hardware I need for this job. The CC1111 Dongle appeared to be the right tool for the job. From what I read on the forum I get the impression, that I only need a CC Debugger to flash the Dongle, change the register settings and use the Packet Sniffer, but in the CC1111 Dongle description it is written, that a CC1110DK is needed for this operations.

When I searched for a CC1110DK I found the Mini Development Kit and wondered if it is compatible with the Packet Sniffer and is the one thing I need and nothing else.

Could you please help to clear up my confusion?

Hello,

You can either CC1111 USB Dongle or CC1110EM+SmartRF04/5 EB as a capture device to sniff packets from CC11xx or CC430 devices. To program the CC1111 Dongle with the Sniffer software you will need either CC-Debugger(http://www.ti.com/tool/cc-debugger) or SmartRF04EB and SmartRF Flash programmer tool.

Thank you for the answer. I had already found the passage in the user manual, but the information on the product page was pointing in the opposite direction. Maybe TI should clarify this in the description of the CC1111 Dongle to avoid future confusions :)
