CC2500: About RED test

Hi Team,

My customer is using CC2500 and need to pass the RED test.

We want to know how to prepare the test environment.

Please help to check if Smart RF studio is OK to performing RED test.

If yes, do we need SmartRF Transceiver Evaluation Board (TI P/N:SMARTRFTRXEBK) ?

    Hi,

    Yes, SmartRF Studio 7 can be used to control the CC2500 when performing ETSI testing at a test house.

    You can use either the SmartRF TrxEB (as you mention) or a CC Debugger: https://www.ti.com/tool/CC-DEBUGGER

    To connect the CC Debugger to the CC2500, see Section 6.3 of SWRU197 (CC Debugger User's Guide): https://www.ti.com/lit/swru197

    You could also export the required settings and use a MCU to control the transceiver. Both the TrxEB and the CC Debugger will produce some EMI, so minimising the length of connecting wires and using a high-quality shielded USB cable, etc. is quite important to try and minimise additional EMI.
