TRF7970 GUI hangs

The TRF7970 GUI of the EVM hangs sometimes on the UART communication.

Aparently can TI hand off the source code of this communication and has the problem been reported earlier, where a patch to the code was written, either by a TIer or someone else. Is there an option to get the source code and the patch?

    I'm having the same issue with the GUI.  It hangs when I try to execute the "Find Tags - Inventory - Excecute" sequence.   The "15693 - Execute" command works fine.

    same Problem here. Sometimes it works, more often it does not work. Sometimes it just hangs (Read-Timeout ~ 40 sec.) while reading registers. Also the virtual COM-Port of EVM is not reliably found at GUI-start up (in the example log below the EVM+original Firmware is connected to COM5). The "Select Port" Input field in the GUI  is always disabled thus I can not set the COM-Port manually. I got no other COM-Devices than 1 EVM attached while using EVM-GUI.

    I am also having these problems with the EVM GUI. Hanging during Find Tags run on laptop with XP and unable to connect to com prt on laptop with Win7. Any suggestions?

    I also get "Read TIMEOUT" when I open up the EVM GUI. It occurs a majority of the time and when it does work I still cannot get the devices to connected via NFC. When I attempt to connect them I get a "Set new target CID number" notification.

    I am fairly certain that everything is set up correctly and that I am following the instructions correctly. I've gotten them to work a few times, but the failures to connect or find the COM port outweigh the successes. 

    I am running the EVM GUI on two different Windows 7 x64 systems.

    It does not seem to be an issue with the actual hardware, as everything seems to function correctly. Rather, the issues lie solely in the EVM Control software.

    Similar problem here.

    Running the GUI on an older XP machine, it seemed a lot more stable than on Win7.  We've had a lot of success with the predecessor part using ISO15693 and that seems quite well supported in the GUI, but you may well find XP helps.  Win7 XP mode wasn't good.

    But the simple tasks that we want to do with ISO 14443 Mifare cards (ideally want to use Mifare 1k S50 but we have some flexibility about the card) don't seem to be possible with the GUI due to problems with the control logic or functions not implemented.

    We want to write cards:

    • detect card (this works OK in GUI)
    • perform anticollision (also OK)
    • select and write ISO block (not implemented)

    and read cards using a similar approach.

    Anyone from TI got any experience, case studies, app notes etc that could help?

    Will ping our local TI support and also see if the MSP430 source is more helpful.

    A correct new version of the EVM_GUI.exe will be really hepful for everybody ...
    Since i am having the same problems while using NFC- P2P mode file transfer . Additionally, Received files are incoplete!


    I just wonder " why TI experts just reply so some posts but underestimate others!
