Adding Vias inside the RF channel

Hi

What is your opinion on placing 2 vias in the RF signal path from the BNC to the beginning of the lumped circuit components (L & C)?

This is a design require to use this component opposite to the RF circuitry. (Attached).

  • Never recommended to send RF signals through vias.  Every effort is made to route everything else around and keep the RF path on the top.

  • I agree using vias in the RF path is to be avoided, even when done using high end simulation tools we find they are lossy.

Looking at the attachment, unless you were thinking about putting the test point on the back side, the part does not need or use vias in the RF path. The only vias are for ground which is normal.

As a test point it solves the problem of needing to break the line, getting a good ground for the probe, and holding the probe with a third hand while tuning the circuit..

This is a very nice part, thank you for sharing it.
