CC1110 and 868 Mhz range

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101

Hi everybody,

we use two CC1110 to communicate between two different electronic devices. In both a johanson ceramic antenna is used: one is made as descripted in the CC1111 USB Dongle Reference Design (swrr049.zip) and other is designed by us. Registers are set to comply with european regulation as suggested in AN050 Using the CC1101 in the European 868MHz SRD band (swra146.pdf): we use a 100kBaud link.

I know that range depends on many things and I haven't  gave you enough informations, but I want to ask my question anyhow: what range do yo expect to achieve (ok: approximately!)? In other word: what distance do you consider satisfactory?

  • Based on my experimentation at 915 MHz using some stub antennas, I would guess around 400 to 500 feet. I am sure I don't have to give you the "range will vary" disclaimer...

    Hope this helps,

    Ron

  • Hi,

Enclosed are some test results I have acheived when performing range tests with the CC1110/01.

With a data rate setting of 250kbps, 0dBm output power, 1.3m above ground, PER:<1%, Nearson dipole antenna; we have recorded 230m_average (690 feet).

    Best regards,

    Richard.

  • Hi, do you have any test results for CC1101 on 433MHz with data rate setting 38,4 kbps, 10 dbm output power, FSK, supposed sensitivity - 100dBm? Thanks for any answer. Milan

  •

CC1110 along with 1W RF power booster @ 868MHz & 2.4Kbps we are able to achieve the following range:

    - Open Line of sight in (railway track): ~2 Kms

    - Urban area (with lots of concrete structures / buildings): ~600-700 mts.

We designed our own antenna & PCBs for this.
