CC1120 under FCC part 15.247

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1120, CC1101

Hello

We want to operate tranceiver CC1120 in modulation bw > 500 kHz (without frequency hopping)  in order to comply with 15.247 with higher power ratings.

According to DN006 we need to set frequency deviation of >=177k (or so).

  1. What is the maximal freq. dev. of CC1120?
  2. Can we use this tranceiver and comply with 15.247 without freq hopping?

Regards

  • The max deviation is 125 kHz, note that the max RX filter bandwidth for this part is 200 kHz. This is a narrow band device and is not designed to comply with 15247 with higher power ratings. When reading the DN006, you will also see that for the lower data rates, you will acctually decrease your link budget for the CC1101 even with the increased output power due to the reduced sensitivity due to the high deviation and then also the high RX filter bandwidth.

  • Hi Charlotte

    Thanks for the reply.

Is there a transceiver from CC112x family that supports wideband modulation? (e.g. FCC 15.247)

  • One correction to previous post by CHS:

CC1101 15.247 settngs will give you better link budget also at lower data rates compared  using CC1101 15.249 settings. Compare Table 5 and table 6.

  • For now, our wideband sub-1 GHz solutions are the CC1101, CC1110, CC430 (all with the same radio) and the CC11xL.
