CC2430 and Anaren Balun Connection to Inverted F Antenna

My design includes the CC2430 with Anaren Balun connected to Inverted F Antenna (DN0007). Since the impedance of the antenna and balun are both 50 ohms, can the antenna feed point be connected directly (within 0.2mm) to the balun pad without using 50 ohm PCB transmission line? Circuit layout is in accordance to TI and Anaren reference designs for SMA connector. I want to replace the connector with PCB antenna but can not find layout design guidelines.

    Hi Robert,

    It should be fine to connect the inverted F-antenna layout to the balun 50 ohm port. When porting the inverted f-antenna design; just make sure that you keep the same distances to the ground plane edge on layer 1 so that the impedance of the antenna is effected or there is a frequency shift.
