RSSI offset for CC1101

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101

Hello,

I am working on demo board CC1101.If I put one board on continuous RX and other board on continuous TX with a tx power of -30dBm then the RSSI level on Smart RF Studio7 indicates -45dBm that is there is attenuation of 15 dBm and it is in conducted mode i.e directly connecting a wire from one board to another. And it is the same case if I feed the antenna connector of demo board through a external signal generator.

Is it the problem of RSSI offset

  • The RSSI offset is correct. The error could be due to frequency offset between RX and TX. Try with a wider RX filter BW or alternatively measure the frequency error on both boards an account for this in the measurements. Measure frequency offset with CC1101 in TX, unmodulated carrier.

Also, the RSSI reading saturates for high input power levels. Try with -50 dBm instead of -30 dBm input (that said, the saturation level is higher than -30 dBm, but just to be safe)
