Understanding Sync Word Detect

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2543

Using the CC2543 at 2 Mpbs and 500 kHz Deviation.   The documentation indicates using the "tone" as 12 bytes of the preamble plus 1 byte of the normal preamble is the recommended configuration for both Tx and Rx.

#1 Is the above correct about configuration and length of the preamble for 2 Mbps at 500 kHz Deviation?

#2 It is indicated the preamble can be 16 bytes long.  Is this true for the 2 Mbps at 500 kHz Deviation using the tone in the preamble segment?

#3 Is there any advantage to using the full 16 bytes of the preamble, if it is possible?

#4 The documentation describes the preamble providing locking information to the receiver.  I assume this bit clock locking, yes?  If there is only noise at the input to the receiver when it is turned on, so there is no tone or preamble to lock to, does the Rx in the CC2543 actually send anything to the Sync Word Detector?  In other words is there a possibility the Sync Word Detector could find a sync word in the noise?  Would it then send garbage out the data port?
