CC2530F256's RF in/out port

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530, CC2531

Can the differential port of RF in/out of CC2530 be connected to balun directly without DC block capacitors? Thx.

  • Hey,

Refer to reference designs of different CC2530 evaluation boards.

I use the Johanson balun chip in my own designs with cc2531 (the RF path is the same)

w/o DC bloacking capacitor in the way.

  • Hi Feng Li,

You cannot remove the DC block capacitors if you are using the recommended discrete balun reference design. In that case, the shunt inductor would form a DC path to ground.

If you are using an integrated balun, as Igor suggests, no additional DC block is required as this is already built into the integrated solution.
