Hi everyone,
I have a design in which I use CC2530 but as it is harder to buy and is generally more expensive I want to replace it with CC2531. And here is my problem - in cc2530 pins 1 to 4 are connected to GND while in CC2531 they are used by USB. My question is: can I mount CC2531 instead CC2530 without changing the board when I'm not using USB?

Hi Piotr,

That should be ok. Just remember to set the USBCTRL.USB_EN bit to 0.

Hi guys,

I did several designs with CC2530 footprint while assembling CC2531 (pins 1 through 4 are solid grounded).

It works very well, just follow Frederik's suggestion :)

And look for the next thing CC2538.. :)

Hi,
Jonih - I haven't tried it yet, but what I did is I replaced the CC2533 from an development board with cc2531 and it works fine. I will soon make some prototype PCBs with CC2531 so I will let You know how it works.

Hi All

I have try it and it seems OK to replace cc2530 with cc2531. The sleep current is almost the same.

Hope it can be stable.
