CC2530 Development Kit Testing

Hi,

I just purchased the CC2530 DK. I'm reading through the quick start guide and performing the Packet error rate test. I was wondering what to select for:

1) What TX output power should I use for the transmitter node: -3 dBm, 0 dBm, or 4dBm

2) burst size; the number of packets to send: 1000, 10K, 100K, or 1M packets.

3) burst size packet rate: 100, 50, 20, or 10 packets per second

After I select the features above, would I be able to change them later? Thanks.

  • Basel,

Yes, this is just a software demo we install on all the kits before they leave the factory. The software "restarts" every time you either reset the kits or re-cycle the power on the kits.

    1) is the power setting, and effects range.

    2) is the number of packets used to collect a final tally at the end of the run (basically used for averaging)

    3) determines the length of each packet, this is there so you can make the PER tester emulate you final application, by just transmitting a variable length of random data.

  • I'm looking to create a short range ZigBee home automation network with one coordinator and two end devices.

What would you suggest for #'s 1, 2, and 3?
