Hi,

The CC2500 transceiver estimates the carrier frequency offset and put the value into the status register FREQEST. I have analyzed the values of the register and I saw that the values fluctuate a lot.

Can TI specify the accuracy of estimator? Is it "normal" that I get values out of the FREQEST = x +16/-8 (fcrystal = 26MHz) , so this means 1,59kHz per digit in the FREQEST.

Hi Gerd,

Have you set the FOCCFG.FOC_BS_CS_GATE bit, so you are sure the frequency estimator is not just tracking noise?

Hi Frederik,

Yes I also set the FOCCFG.FOC_BS_CS_GATE bit and checked if the FREQEST value stays constant between two transmissions and yes it did.

Reading your posting I interpret that the value of the FREQEST should be more constant - right?
