Suggestion needed for Evolution Board for 6loWPAN stack

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101, SIMPLICITI, CC430F5137

Hi,

I am using TI MSP-EXPCC430RF4 Evolution Kit for one of my project of Tracking system.
For that I am using RSSI value to find distance between Satellite board & base board of this kit.

Can anyone please confirm to me that 6loWPAN Software stack is suitable or not for this Evolution kit ?

And also suggest other Evolution kit which is suitable for 6loWPAN stack.

Thanks,
Nipam

  • Nipam,

Our Sensinode based Nano-Stack lite does run on CC430 based boards, but is has limited capabilities and therefore I would recommend a more full featured solution based on a bigger set of devices.

Using the Thingsquare solution you have source access which puts you in the driver seat when it comes to development. (I would recommend the TRXEB + CC1101 solution as a starting point)

  • Hello,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

Actually we are developed application on SimpliciTi stack for CC430 kit (TI MSP-EXPCC430RF4 kit). But we are facing the issue related to RSSI for distance measurement.

So as per your suggested Evolution kit and with 6loWPAN stack, is there any problem related to RSSI as it is in SimpliciTI stack?

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hello TA,

Thanks for reply. There is some more queries related to this evolution kit.

We have developed application using SimpliciTi stack. Because of RSSI problem in simpliciTi, we have decided to use 6loWPAN stack with the MSP EXP-CC430RF4 (433 MHz) kit. So can you please tell me that what type of limitation is there?

I have read that "For CC430 SoC support, stack can be delivered as a library" and I have read in its API document that "EV_RF – a radio event (not used)". Can you please confirm to me this is right or not? If there is no radio event, then how can I do communication with other board.

I found only one application code of CC430F5137 from the sensinode site. Where can I find some more codes for this stack and CC430?

    Thanks & Regards,
