Provide sample code for CC2541 Mini DK that is under 4K code size

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541

Having purchased a CC2541 Mini Development Kit and having 4K limited kickstart IAR compiler has rendered it useless.  The sample applications with the kit is too big to comple on the code limited 4K kickstart.  I now can do nothing useful with it.  This is a bad deal and situation that TI has out me and many others in to force us to buy an expensive compiler.  Shame on you TI for not providing small operators access to usable, affordable options.  This has just killed your chances of using your chips in a high volume product for a client.

At the very least your sample programs should be made to have the option to compile within 4K.

I am very dissapointed with this situation and  I hope TI will rectify this soon or they will continue to alienate many more developers.

  • Bill,

I just bought the kit as well and asked IAR for quote.  Holy #$!x%$%$$<.  Its ridiculous what they are asking for the iar software(in thousands for software that only does one mcu and is only licensed to you for 3 months).  I guess my only option is the 30 day trial and hope that i can develop a simple enough solution that is solid before 30 days runs out, and try to work everything else from the smart phone/tablet side.

I got into ti stuff from the stellaris launchpad, which is an ausome deal and had free CodeComposerStudio.  Because launchpad is my only experience with TI prior to CC2541 I was excited about ti and assumed everything was affordable and worked like launchpad/CCS.  There is no point in me pursuing ti's bluetooth stuff if i cant use it to prototype because the software is to costly.  Ti must be geared to major huge companies and not startups.  I hope it works out for them.

Ti it would be real nice if you supported all your hardware with CCS.
