CC Debugger and CC1111 / Target Connection

Hi,

I am trying to flash my CC1111 on my Windows 7 (64-bit) via the CC Debugger, but I can't establish a proper target connection. The led of the CC Debugger is always red.

First off, here's my setup:

- pin #1 of the CC Debugger is connected to pin #1 of the CC1111.

- Both USB devices (Debugger & CC1111) are powered by the USB bus

- Both USB devices come up with the proper USB vendor / dev id (vendor: 0x0451 / dev: 0x16ad and dev: 0x16a2), and are visible in the Windows device manager

Starting SmartRF Studio 7 (1.13.0) shows only the CC Debugger as connected device with the folloeing line:

CC Debugger (USB device ID=0000, Firmware revision=0041), -- no chip

The only weird thing is the device ID 0000 of the CC Debugger?!?

Does anybody have a good idea how to debug / proceed further? I just got these 2 TI devices last week and desperately need them for work...

Hi,

Is the dongle a TI dongle, or a custom design?

The signals needed between the CC Debugger and the dongle are

Ground
Debug Clock (DC)
Debug Data (DD)
ResetN
Voltage detect (target's VDD. Needed by the level shifters on the CC Debugger)

Can you check if the DD and DC signals look ok coming from the CC Debugger? Is the signal integrity good when they "arrive" at the CC1111?

Hi,

the dongle is a CC1111 USB Evaluation Module Kit 868/915.

I'll try to measure the signal integrity (DC/DD). Unfortunately, I can do this only on Friday. But will post my results here...

While you are waiting to measure the signal integrity, can you please take some pictures showing how you connect and power the EM as well as the Flash Programmer screen shot as shown in the file below:

Hi,

its the cable :-) I thought that red stripe should be connected to pin #1, but not with the cable I have...

Anyway, thank you for your help. I really appreciated it!

hi. I have the same issue in that I have the red light and my red stripe doesbt connect to pin 1. I only purchased this week. how do I resolve this

Leanne,

1. Make sure your target is correctly powered up

2. Make sure the red stripe is connected to pin1 of your EM/dongle's debug header.

3. Verify the signal integrity between the CC Debugger and the device using e.g. a voltmeter

The CC Debugger User's guide (SWRU197) is a useful reference.
