Hello!

I would like to ask for a help to find a best solution for my application. I need two functionalities: data transfer and read RFID cards. I need both functions in one single chip (except processor of course).

I read a datasheet of the RF430CL330H and a few conversation regarding NFC and I'm little bit confused: is it possible that this IC will handle both function? If not, can you propose a low cost solution?

Hello Aleksander,

No, the RF430CL330H is a tag and not a reader. You would need to use something like the TRF7970A for reader/writer functions. What do you mean by "data transfer"? Do you mean peer to peer mode?

I want to (1) send and read binary data from my device and (2) set the device into different mode using RFID card or tag. I assume TRF7970A supports both functionalities?

Yes, TRF7970A would meet these requirements.

1. peer to peer mode would probably be best for this functionality.

2. Reader/Writer mode would be used for this. You would need to set the TRF7970A to operate with the specific tag you are using. If there could be many different tag types used, you can poll through all different card types.

Hey, can I ask too whether RF430CL330H can able to read card too? if not, why? if yes, is there any additional things that i need to add in the hardware design?

Stella,

No, the RF430CL33H cannot be used as a reader. The analog front end on this device is designed for transponder functionality which is a different architecture than is used for reader devices. If you want a reader, TRF79xx is right device to use.
