Adrian,
You can use SmartRF Studio with the CC2511 as you describe. Note that the CC2511 has to be powered externally, for example by plugging it into the USB port.
There is a manual for SmartRFStudio on the web, but it is pretty easy - you can configure the chip with respect to frequency, output power, data rate etc. You can also send packages and use it as a PER tester (then you need 2...)
If you got the CC2511, they you also have a spectrum analyzer: http://e2e.ti.com/support/low_power_rf/f/157/p/17252/66791.aspx#66791
Thanks for the link to the spectrum analyzer (Indicator). It's excellent and will be a useful tool. I don't think I would have found it without your post.
I tried the spectrum indicator and got it working on my cc2511 usb dongle. Just wanted to note the application hangs when the Advanced << menu, any value in the drop-down boxes are changed.
My question is the cc2511.hex file properties show 37k size, how does this fit into the cc2511f32 flash?
Thanks,
spincraft
Hi,
Please let me know if you can post the COM interface specifications for the Spectrum Indicator cc2511 USB Dongle. I'm looking for the COM port settings (baud, 8, N, 1), Function Calls, Data & etc. I plan to use this with another language rather than learn Qt.
Thanks,
Spincraft

Hi,
SmartRF Studio 7 does not support the ez430-rf kits. Please see the below post for more information.
