Z-Stack CC2538 Getting Started

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2531, Z-STACK, CC2538

Hello All,

I have two SmartRf06 boards, 4 CC2538 boards and a CC2531 sniffer.  On the software side I have Z-Stack and IAR: Embedded Workbench for ARM.  I know I have a long way to go learning but was wondering how I could get started with Z-Stack projects.  I have loaded different projects onto my boards (one as coordinator and the other as router or end device) but from the looks of the CC2531 Packet sniffer, they don't seem to be talking.  Additionally, I would expect the LCD's on each board to indicate that there is some communication between them but the menus seem to be cryptic with no indication like the 'DOOR UNLOCKED' signal has been received.  Could someone explain how to setup just one of the projects and get it working as the programmer intended?

  • Hi,

It depends on what projects you are using to demonstrate the LCD functionality, plus, the setup of a packet sniffer is

also important to catch the over the air traffic.

For starters, you could try to set the following test:

    1. Flush two cc2538EMs (connected to smartRF06EBs) with packet error test (PER) FW

    2. Connect the cc2531 device to a PC and start smartRF Packet sniffer, then proceed with ZigBee2007 option, and begin with catching packets on channel 11

    3. Follow PER Test instructions and make both devices to send-receive packets.
