Smart RF flash programmer vs version 2

What version is recommended to program CC2530/38 devices?

I initially wanted to use Smart RF flash progammer-2 version 1.4 but it couldn't recognize the CC debugger and CC2530 custom device connected to it. Then I tried older one version 1.12.7  and it worked.

I just want to be able to download HEX files to chips.

    Hello Dan,

    Flash programmer (current version 1.12.7) can be used for CC2530 with ccdebugger or SmartRF05 board. For CC2538 device, you will need Flash-programmer-2 (current version 1.4.0) with a SmartRF06 board.

    Just to be sure, for CC2538 I need only Flash Programmer-2 with what programming hardware? I have I-Jet from IAR but that works with IAR not smartflash programmer. Am I correct?

    Yes, that is correct. You can use the SmartRF06EB board as programming HW with Flash Programmer 2. This is the evaluation board included in the device kits. Alternatively, you can use the standalone XDS100v3 emulators from Spectrum Digital.
