cc2420 current draw

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2420

Hi,

The CC2420 datasheet defines current draw for different states as follows:

Power Down mode: 20 uA

Idle mode: 426 uA

Receive mode: 18.8 mA

Transmit mode: 17.4 mA (at 0 dBm)

Do Receive/Transmit correspond to the state when the transceiver is active and actually receiving/transmitting a packet OR just when the transceiver is active i.e. receiver/transmitter is ON?

If its the second case, what does Idle state refer to?

Thanks.
