Flashing sniffer CC2540 usb dongle firmware using SmartRF Flash Programmer

I need a sniffer, and I have a CC2540 usb dongle, with unknown firmware.

I followed the wiki http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/BLE_sniffer_guide and the programmer fails to detect my dongle.

The name of my driver is: TI CC2540 USB CDC Serial Port (COM6)

When I take out the dongle, the driver goes away from the device manager. When I plug it back in, it comes back up.

In any case, it is not detected by the SmartRF Flash Programmer.

Can anyone help with this?

Before you connect programmer to your CC2540 USB dongle, do you plug CC2540 USB dongle into USB socket to give it power?

Have you connected the dongle to a CC-Debugger? the debugger (or a SmartRF05EB) is required to program new firmware on the dongle.

Thanks, that was my problem, I realized that the CC debugger needed to program the USB probe. Thanks.
