Dear sir/madam

I have a CCDebugger that is not cooperating.

Let me describe the setup. I connect the CCdebugger to the custom PCB and to the Computer via USB. I press the Reset button on the CCDebugger, but the LED remains RED.

I then take the same CCDebugger connected to the same custom PCB and connect to another computer. Now the LED turns GREEN.

Both PCs are Windows 7.

When I connect the CCDebugger to both PCs, the Device Manager shows the Cebal controlled devices, indicating that the CC Debugger is connected.

Yet, the LED only turns GREEN on one of the PCs.

Anybody have any idea what the reason could be?

Not sure if this is applicable... are you powering your target thru the debugger?

If so, perhaps one computer's USB doesn't supply enough current to the load.

What you describe should not be possible. The PC only delivers power to the debugger in this case, it's the communication between the customer board and the debugger that determines if the LED should be red or green.

- Is this repeatable (eq connected to one PC always green, the other always red?
- If so I would measure the voltages when the light is red to check if they are as expected.

I am only monitoring the power on the PCB through the debugger.

The PCB is powered externally.

I have found the reason for the phenomenon.

The problem is the different reference (ground) between the PCB and the Debugger.
