Regarding Packet sniffer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541, CC2540, CC-DEBUGGER

Hello,

We  have the CC2541 DK-MINI Wireless  connectivity development kit. I used the CC2540 USB dongle and keyfob and I am able to see the immediate notifications in the Btool.

Now I am trying to see the packet flow using packet sniffer. But I didn't get that. Please let me know how to proceed for that.

Thank You

T.Amar Sainath

  • Hello Amar,

When using the dongle with BTool you are using the HostTestRelease firmware:

    C:\Texas Instruments\BLE-CC254x-1.4.1.43908\Accessories\HexFiles\CC2540_USBdongle_HostTestRelease_All.hex

To use the packet sniffer tool (http://www.ti.com/tool/packet-sniffer) with the CC2540 dongle you need to program another firmware on to the CC2540 dongle by using the CC-Debugger. You can find the hex-file here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Packet Sniffer\bin\general\firmware\sniffer_fw_cc2540_usb.hex

You can read how to use the packet sniffer tool in the user manual:

    SmartRF™ Packet Sniffer User's Manual (Rev. G)
