CC1190 Pin 1 via keep out area

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101, CC1190

I've just completed a design based on the CC1101 + CC1190 evaluation module. One thing I didn't notice until the gerbers were sent off for PCB manufacturing was that the CC1190 datasheet shows a via keep out area between pin 1 and 16. Of course I put a via in this exact area and the boards are being manufactured.

Could someone give me more information about this keep out area? Specifically I'd like to know what the effects a via being in that location would cause?

  Thanks!

  • The information about the RGV packet included in the datasheet is generic. If you read the fine print on the thermal information drawing some products have a pin 1 indicator in metal which require a keep-out. But CC1190 is not one of the products using this metal indicator and you don't need to use a keep out here. Our reference design don't use a keep-out.
  • Thanks very much TER! Good to know. The reference design doesn't have a via there (though probably not because of the RGV pin 1 note) so I wanted to ask.
