Error Msg on SmartRF04EB when powered by battery

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2510

Hi,

I have recently got a pair of CC1110EM with SmartRF04EB for customer. The board functions fine when operating with SmartRF Studio but when they tried to power the EB with battery, they get the following error on the LCD Display on the EB "Old SW Version : Chip Version is too new and not supported by this software. Please download a newer version of this from ti.com/lpw". The version of the EB is SmartRF04EB 1.9. Can anyone advise which software I should be using to overcome this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Dunman Teo

  • Hi,
The software that reports this is probably the PER test software example that has been programmed on the boards in production. You can download newer version of this software from this page: www.ti.com/.../cc1110-cc1111dk

Go to the section 'Software' and download the package called 'CC1110/CC2510 Example Software Supported on IAR Embedded Workbench'.

You can use either IAR or TI Flash Programmer to reprogram the devices.

  • Bjorn,

When i try to program the file "per_test_cc1110.hex" via the USB port, i get the error that the Flash Image overlaps the bootloader. However, when I try to program the serial port, the error becomes one of inability to connect with the board. Baud rate was set at 9600. May I know what am I missing? I attach the error screens.

    Thanks and best regards,

  • Hi,
The per test hex image will go into the CC1111 device (it is not firmware for the EB board).
You will therefore have to select 'What do you want to program' -> 'Program ccxxxx or MSP430' (at top of Flash programmer GUI).

  • Bjorn,

This is interesting because when I program the firmware into CC1110DK433_EM, REV 1.2, the error stops appearing. However, when I try to do the same with CC1110EM-868-915 Rev 4.0.0, the error still appears. How can we overcome this problem to make the Rev 4.0.0 board work with SmartRF04?

    Thanks and best regards,

  • Hi, would anyone be able to advise on this?
