We are going to use the CC2650 in a new project. There is one Question. Can we use the pins X32K_Q1 and X32k_Q2 as normal IO? In this Application we do not need the 32k Crystal.

  • These pins cannot be used as DIOs no. If you do not use a 32kHz crystal, these pins should be left floating.
  • Do note that if you are planning on using the internal RC oscillator @ 32kHz instead of an external one, the current errata states that this is unreliable and the device may lock up. Also, RC osc tends to be much less accurate. Errata qoute:

    RCOSC_LF (32.768kHz) may from time to time produce glitches. The most common
    symptom when using RCOSC_LF as low frequency clock source is that the RTC is
    advanced or delayed by one SCLK_LF period. However, there may be other
    consequences such as system lock-up, potentially leading to an erroneous digital state
    and unpredicted behavior.

    I am Ramesh from India , I was designed sensor tag referenced cc2650 custom application ...
    The issue I am facing is , I could not connect to the jtag either ccs, rf tool or flash programmer ...

    While debugging the issue I found there is some problem with reset circuit or pcb...
    I am feeding 12v/1A by power adapter and the same is feeding to 3.3v adapter ...
    Then I observed 3.286v out of regulator .the same I fed to controller then I observed 3.286v .
    Now I mounted reset circuit 100k resistor pull up to 3.3v and 0.1uf to pull down through a switch .. As soon as I connect the reset circuit my vdd accross the board is dropped to 1.877v and if I press reset button then I am able to see 3.268v.

    I am surprised with this behaviour ...if I press reset button I am seeing zero volts at reset pin and 3.268v across the board .
    If I not press the reset switch i am seeing 1.877v.

    Can any one help me what could be the reason ?
