Sending NDEF data from MSP-EXPF5529 via ez430-rf2500 to PC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SIMPLICITI, CC2500, TRF7970A

Hi,

I am using NFClink  to read 156930 tags using a combination of MSP-EXPF5529 + TRF7970ATB. Is there a way of transferring NDEF data via ez430 rf2500 wirelessly to PC. What modifications should i make in the program?

  • Hi Lakshmi,

I presume you are referring to the Stollman NFCPlayer (version 1.0.153.5) right?

There isn't much in place for doing what you are discussing with that GUI and firmware.

If you try using our firmware example from our Reader/Writer app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa227/sloa227.pdf , then I think you may have more options.

The GUI which you can install from that firmware package also generates a .hex file in your PC local folder  which has the NDEF data read from tags.

You could then use this file to send the data over wireless from your PC with the EZ430-RF2500 to another device/PC.

That example works with the exact same hardware as you have, so you are good on a hardware aspect!

  • and then if you can - shoot a video like these - cool idea - i like the idea of using other radios, too

  •  Hello Ralph,

Is the hex file RW_P2P_CE.hex or is it some other file pertaining to the NDEF message. Also when I tried to configure my cc2500 as linkto and linklisten in simpliciTI. The Leds haven't stopped blinking like it says in the SimpliciTI sample application user guide

    Best Regards

    Lakshmi

  • Hi Lakshmi,

Presuming it is installed in default Windows directory, you will find the .hex file I was referring to at:

    C:\TI\msp430\TRF7970A_RW_1.02.05\tools\TI NFC Tool\TI NFC Tool\bin\Debug

    It is named ndef.hex

You can confirm file contents by using a Hex viewer program like HxD.

Regarding the SimpliTI kit - we have no idea about that EVM at all, you would need to ask about those issues in another forum. I think perhaps this may be the right one? e2e.ti.com/.../156
