We are using TRF7970A nfc reder module from TI and it is connected on our board through SPI.

I am trying to write linux base C application for the detection of passive RFID tags ( TI Tag-IT HF-I transponders inlays).

I just want to know if I can use any nfc devtools ( libnfc ) or not?

Please help me to get speed up in my work.

Hello Nishith,

We have a reference design for Linux using our TRF7970A which you can leverage for your use case: www.ti.com/.../linux-nfc-trf7970a

This includes NFC Reader Mode and will work with Type 5/V RFID tags like the TI Tag-It HF-I Transponders.

Hi Nishith,

What do you mean by libnfc? We are not familiar with that library.

The neard software stack is not being implemented by TI, it is just something which has been supported by the TRF7970A as a hardware device.

If you are looking for open source code to integrate into Linux, you could take existing TI firmware offerings which are on Microcontrollers and port them into a Linux OS.

I am trying to use NERD software stack for TI TRF7970A but NERD kernel which I got from "www.ti.com/.../linux-nfc-trf7970a" is inline with 3.12 kernel where my BSP inline with 4.4.8 kernel.

That's the problem for me.

Hello Nishith,

We are in the process of getting the near-d kernel updated to support the latest SDK versions, and we are aware that there are function calls which do not work correctly with newer kernels.

While we don't have a solid timeline yet, we are actively working to take the steps to make this improvement. As soon as I can provide a more definitive timeline, I will update you on that.
