CC259x Differences

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2591, CC8531, CC2592, CC2590

Hi team,

We are looking at range extenders for the CC85xx PurePath family of devices. The CC85XXDK-HEADSET Kit has the CC8531 with the CC2590. Looking at other options in the parametric search for 2.4 GHz range extenders, I only see the CC2592 as an option. Then I also came across the CC2591 which seems to be another 2.4 GHz range extender which does not show on parametric search.

My questions:

Thank you,

Akash Patel

  • Q:What are the differences between the CC2590/2?
    A: Max output power.

Q: Which one boasts the highest TX power?
    A: CC2592

CC2592 can be regarded as an updated version of CC2591. CC2592 has better performance and more importantly, easier to design with and we highly recommend using CC2592 compared to CC2591 for new designs.
  • Hi TER,

Thank you for the response. Do you foresee any issues using the CC2592 instead of the CC2590 in conjunction with the CC85xx devices? The CC85XXDK-HEADSET kit uses the CC2590 but we would like additional TX power.

    Regards,

  • The max output power is dictated by the regulations (FCC, ETSI) in the region you want to use the design.
