CC2540USB-RD: Monitoring advertising signal by CC2540USB Dongle.

Part Number: CC2540USB-RD

I'm trying to capture advertising signal by using CC2540USB dongle with TI SmartRF packet Sniffer(v2.18.1)

I found that the sniffer shows me an intermittent advertising signal on the screen.

It seems that my BLE slave device does not generate the advertising signal at regular interval.

However I'm not sure whether it does not actually generate the regular signal or not because I checked the regular signal by using another tool.

Is there any issues about detecting advertising signal on TI sniffer?. Do you know anyone who knows about the similar case like this?

Thanks.

  • Hello,

It's difficult to provide a conclusive answer based on the description. If you want to confirm transmission, you can use a logic analyzer and monitor the RF observable (range extender) pins on your slave device if it's a TI device. It's also possible the sniffer is processing another device's ADV broadcast when your slave is TX'ing. Can you try the test in a RF chamber where no other devices are transmitting?

    Best wishes
