TRF7970AEVM: NFC Modes Selection

I am trying to perform tests using TRF7970AEVM and I need your instructions about how to change between different modes of NFC technology. I am not able to change between NFC-A, B, F and V modes using the “TRF7970 EVM GUI Interface”. The device is transmitting when I plug it with the USB power, but it´s not possible to change the TX NFC Mode as I observe from the spectrum analyzer.

Could you support about the way to set this configuration? Could you tell me the options I should select on the “TRF7970 EVM GUI” to have a full transmission in the available NFC modes.

Hello Mutlu,

The TRF7970AEVM is not setup for NFC functionality. It is a good evaluation platform for ISO15693 and the RF430FRL152HEVM, but the on-board MCU was too small to support a full NFC stack.

Dear Mutlu -
you can use the "Find Tags" tab for polling with that EVM. When it is just plugged in, it will be in standalone mode, looking for these tags. With a spectrum analyzer, you will only see the carrier turning on or off...you won't be able to distinguish the protocols unless you are expert in these and you have the sweep times set up to see the differences between 100%, 10% and 14% modulation depths. Those are better viewed with a pickup coil and o'scope.
