Hello!

It is necessary to make a medical transponder using a chip RF430FRL152H. As I understand it for the full operation of the transponder, I need to attach the antenna to the chip? Or the chip can work from antenna of the reader? And then I do not need to connect the antenna to the chip. Or it is possible that the antenna is already in the chip? But, if the antenna is needed, then how to make a suitable (no more than 10 * 10 * 4 mm). Either tell manufacturers or companies that make similar antennas.

In addition, there is a question about the current at the outputs (GPIOS) of the chip. What current will be output when running in the active and passive modes?

I will be grateful for any information that will help me understand this topic.

Hello Olga,

There is no antenna in the chip. You must attach one to it. Proper antenna design is critical to the RF communication performance. See http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa217a/sloa217a.pdf for details.

7.3. Equation 4. A function is used, one of the parameters µ0 = Permeability of the medium. What is its numerical value? Are there tables with data? And this parameter refers to the material of the antenna or the surface on which the antenna is placed?

And correctly I understood from Section 2.4 that for the supply of current only one port is used?

Hello Olga,

For µ0 = Permeability of the medium - that depends on your PCB material. You would have to look this up for whether you using FR4, versus Flex PCB, versus other options. We don't have a table for those values available but Google will help you find them quickly.

The parameter is the material of the antenna when it comes to PCB antennas.

There isn't a section 2.4 - I am not sure what you mean by your question about supply current.
