1. Is there a software support to access the CCA(clear channel assesment) mechanism
2. Also is there a software support to send raw packets in PPDU protocol?. our raw packets can be in long or short format.

Ashwin,

Currently the CC3220 Network Processor does not have the ability for the Apps processor to access the CCA mechanism or PPDU packets.

Unfortunately no i do not know of a chip to recommend to you.

our partner company uses AR4100P from qualcomm which uses these mechanisms to provide location services, using the cisco access point. These mechanisms are the documented method for location services.

we are working on to update AR4100P chip with a new WiFi chip. so was wondering if TI has got a chip which involves these features for wifi.

Thanks for the info Ashwin.

We do have the ability to set the CCA threshold, so that you can configure when the device considers a channel occupied. This is located in section 13.6.6 (Page 202) in the network processors guide.

You can also use a raw socket to bypass certain levels of the network stack. Section 6.3 (Page 81) of the same document.

There is also the ability to open a transciever socket. Section 13.1 (Page 196) of the same document.

we did order CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL and working on it at the moment. We were also wondering if you have any modules which would have the same functionality along with offering Bluetooth.

Could you help me with the above query Please. Does these 18xx wilink products with Wi-Fi and bluetooth has the capability as the 3120 and 3220 which has transceiver mode.

No

WiLink8 is normally used in systems running Linux . User applications use network stack supported by the OS. WiLink8 only handles the 802.11 datalink/phy . Socket type would be more of OS feature rather than WiLink8 . You can also bypass the network stack and run PLT tests on WiLink8 .
