CC2500: Debugging CC2500RGP Transmit

Part Number: CC2500

Hi,

I have a pair of older PCB's with CC2500RGP. One is always transmit and the other always receive. These two work good - the receiver detect the transmission and shows RX strength on several LED's.

But when i trying to use same software on a new PCB (module) which uses same CPU and connections between CPU and CC2500RGP chip, the old receive unit doesn't show anything and I need to debug this.

When i checked the current consumption of the new TX module i seen that any time it expected to transmit, the CC2500RGP takes 10mA more current and the state machine is in TX state. Does it means that it actually transmits for sure? Or maybe it shuts down the transmitter because of bad SWR? Or maybe the frequency doesn't fit?

How can i debug this thing without involving spectrum analyzer? The receive module checks reception of valid frame in order to report reception.... is there a way to check RSSI value if the received frame isn't valid?

Thanx,

Eli.
