Hardware & Price (farnell) Difference between cc2430 & cc2430Z

Hello,

I have recently came across a price comparison while browsing on farnell.

http://tr.farnell.com/jsp/search/browse.jsp?N=500002+1004408&Ntk=gensearch_001&Ntt=cc2430&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial

Basically, a CC2430 with Zigbee stack is much more cheaper than a CC2430 without Zigbee stack. Shouldn't this be the opposite way around?

As far as I know, there is no hardware difference between CC2430 and a CC2430Z. Is there something I am missing that is really critical?

I may be considered as a newbie in comparing RF SOC chips so any feedback would be appreciated.

thanks for your time

  • The F and ZF are the same device, for less money the Z includes the royalty for using TI’s ZigBee® Software Stack, ZStack ™, in an end product. Therefore the CC2430Z is a better deal. Note that Ti prices the F and ZF the same at a budgetary price of $5.80 USD. It looks like Farnell is trying to move the Z  inventory or they sell more of Zs and get a better price from Ti. Either way the Z is still marked up 2X over the US price.. (I realize part of the mark-up is due to customs)
