TRF7970A: MSP430G2 Firmware for custom TRF7970a design?

Hello,

I am referring about the firmware mentioned in https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless_connectivity/nfc_rfid/f/667/t/493678#pi239031350=1 URL. Would this Firmware only work with DLP7970ABP or any other custom design with TRF7970a IC?. I am following the 50 ohm matching circuit for TRF7970a as mentioned in the datasheet. And also following the antenna design guide for designing the external antenna.

Could the above Firmware work directly for eZ430-TRF7970A UART Module mentioned in http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa199/sloa199.pdf. And how can the Firmware be downloaded to the MSP430G2553 present in the eZ430-TRF7970A UART reference design?

Hello Manoj,

The firmware will work with any TRF7970A design. The only change you would need to make to operate with that eZ430 module you referenced is to ensure the MCU to TRF7970A pinout is setup correctly in the mcu.h file.

Hello Ralph,

eZ430 also uses MSP430G2XX3 MicroController. And both the firmware's pinout in MCU.h looks the same. There is a pin named SYS_CLK in TRF7970a. Should that be connected to Xin of the Microcontroller?

No. The G2553 cannot take HF clock in. It will run from its own DCO.

It tells P1.7 is SPI MISO and P1.6 is SPI MOSI. Is it not the reverse?

Yes it is reversed... I thought I had fixed that mistaken comment in the last release... thanks for highlighting that, I will see about getting that fixed for future releases.
