RF430FRL152H: Cannot write or read devices via TRF7970EVM

Part Number: RF430FRL152H

Hi

I have some problem with my RF430FRL152H (this product http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE ).

I had tried to change a sensor configuration by GUI with TRF7970 EVM.

However, after I pressed "Write all setting", on the bottom was showed "Could not write to the device" and I cannot read or write this device anymore.

Has anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Erk

  • Hello Sippanat,

I haven't heard of that happening before. Have you removed the tag from the RF field and re-tried after it powered down?

What sort of write operations have you tried before?

Can you try and use the TRF7970AEVM GUI to use Inventory command or read a single block on the tag? If you don't have it, I need to provide the download link on Monday as I don't have my work PC with me to pull it up.

  • Hello Ralph Jacobi

Last time I'd tried to change a  configuration of filter type and Oversampling in "Thermistor/ADC2 Sensor Configuration Register"

And, I tried to remove the tag from RF-field and re-tried again but nothing change.

I had not try TRF7970AEVM yet.

However, I found that last time my target device selection is "RF430FRL152HEVM" while my device is "RF430FRL152H Patch"

    Would it cause any problem?

    Thanks

    Sippanat

  • Hello Sippanat,

I see. I would see if the TRF7970AEVM can read anything from the tag by using the GUI for that board. You can find the GUI here: www.ti.com/lit/zip/sloc301

The firmware that the TRF7970AEVM ships with the right firmware by default, so that GUI should be all you need. The manual for it can be found here: www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slou321

That you selected EVM rather than patch should be okay in theory but I can't say I tried doing that before. If the EVM can't read the tag at all, I'll look into whether that can cause problems.
