RF430FRL154H: Compatibility with IOS11

Part Number: RF430FRL154H

Team,

according to a few sources found in google, IOS11 supports NFC applications beyond Apple Pay.

Does this mean RF430FRL154H can exchange messages with Iphones running IOS11? Is there any limitation in this usage?

Regards,
Raul Matos

  • Hello Raul,

I haven't found out much about the Core NFC functionality in iOS yet, there doesn't seem to be much info or apps available for it. Yes they are supporting more applications, but the breadth of which and what can be done now is unclear still, at least to me.

I would say that in theory if the RF430FRL154H was used in NDEF mode, that it would be possible, but really we haven't seen this done yet and I have no idea how they plan to support ISO15693 as a whole yet. They should in theory support it, but it also is the one tag technology not used for payments (vs ISO14443A/B for retail POS in US/EU, and FeliCa in Japan) so it's still TBD what support is offered ISO15693.
