TRF7970A: can NFC working above 20 Mhz

Hi Team,

My customer is looking for 20mhz and above NFC communication I have been noticing that the Carrier frequency of the device is defined by an external crystal which is acceptable to get up to 27.12-MHz.

First, can you please advise if this device can use the 27.12Mhz and perform properly?

May you recommend other devices which can fit for this type of application?

Hello Shai,

First off, NFC only operates at 13.56MHz, outside of that frequency band it is not NFC anymore. No HF RFID standards that I am aware of covers 20MHz either.

The 27.12MHz crystal is only used to divide down to 13.56MHz. The device operation is only at 13.56MHz.

There are no TI NFC/RFID devices which will operate above 13.56MHz.

Thanks for your quick response, the customer is not looking exactly for NFC band but a proprietary solution that can work at the frequency above 20 MHz.
If there is another component that allows transmission in 20-30 Mhz zone?

Not that I am aware of, but I only cover NFC/RFID products. You could look at other forums or product pages maybe.
