TRF7960A: Tests Required for usage

Part Number: TRF7960A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF7970A

Team,

I have a customer considering using TRF7960A in an upcoming design. Are there any tests that must be performed when using this device prior to production, and do you know the approximate costs of these tests?

  • Hello Carolus,

FCC certification is important, beyond that we don't have any recommendations for tests that they would need to pay for. However if they don't feel comfortable with testing their system thoroughly to ensure their application is robust for their use case, there may be design partners who can help with that? Most customers we work with have no issue with that though.
  • Ralph,

Thanks for the response. I don't think the issue here is design challenges with the device, it's more the cost of the test vs. sales numbers out of the gate. The customer is hoping to achieve only something along the lines of 1000 units in the first year, and I discussed that a certified mdule based approach might help them with getting started. I had a look, but we do not offer any form of certified module for this part, do we?

  • Hello Carolus,

Correct, we don't offer any modules.

I know the DLP-RFID2 module from DLP Design is FCC Certified, they can look at that one. It uses the TRF7970A.
