CC-ANTENNA-DK-RD: S Parameters

Part Number: CC-ANTENNA-DK-RD

How are the components and chips packages and pads are included in the S parameters. These are therefore not included in the distance measurements.

Since new design does not include the effects of magnetic fringing the traces (lines) appear longer and wider than their physical lengths. Please reference a white paper(App Note) that is close or equivalent to AN068 which seems obsolete now.

  • Hi Dr. Muh,

I am not sure I fully understand what you are asking for.

The antennas in the Antenna-DK are all designed to be matched to 50 ohm. Of course, when you integrate one of the antennas in a product the antenna impedance will be affect due to changes in the PCB, housing and other mechanical obstructions. It is thus necessary to place a pi-network close to the antenna feed which can be used to tune the antenna impedance in your final board.

Our wireless MCU reference designs similarly provide a match with a 50 ohm output. Generally speaking, if you follow the reference design layout and stack-up, this matching is quite robust and does normally not require tuning.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
