Hi,

I would need some recommendation for selecting the right Wireless MCU. I would need it to support Bluetooth and and Zigbee. I saw different part numbers that could do it but I am not sure if they have support and reference designs for the Smart Energy Zigbee version 1.2a.

I want to design a device compatible with this standard but I am not sure which of the ICs have the correct SW examples and reference projects for starting my initial application.

Any help will be welcome.

TI doesn’t provide Zigbee Smart Energy Profile SW for now. If you want BLE and Zigbee 3.0, you can use CC2652R, CC1352R, or CC1352P.

I have seen this article from EETimes where it says that TI will provide a SE solution and it also affirms that "The SE2.0 profile is architected to interface with multiple TI PHYs".

That is why I was wondering that (if this information is right and the SE profile for this chip exist) it could perhaps work in the other ICs you mentioned before.

Is there anything for the CC2538 or perhaps some SE profile that I could expect to have in the near future from TI for this chips?

Hi Gonzalo,

The article referenced is from 2012 and the TI Z-Stack SE profile solution mentioned has long since been deprecated and taken off the web. DSR's ZBOSS solution supports the SE 1.4 profile for CC2652R, CC1352R, and CC1352P devices but you would have to contact them regarding a roadmap for multi-standard concurrency and profile updates: http://www.dsr-zboss.com/#!/
