RI-SMD-MRD2: Communication protocol

Hello team,

one of my customer was using the TMS37157as a transponder for their application. Recently though they started to think of using the RI-SMD-MRD2 and were asking if the two devices use the same communication protocols. The other reader they thought of is the TMS3705.

Could you please help with that question? Do you know if the TMS3705 and the micro reader MRD2 use the same communication protocol?

    the TMS3705 is only a reader IC which has no communication protocol. It will need an additional microcontroller.
    A complete reader which uses the TM3705 is the RI-ACC-ADR2-10 .

    The RI-ACC-ADR2-10 and the RI-SMD-MRD2 do not have the same communication protocols.

    thanks for pointing this out!
    I wanted to know if I can use the RI-SMD-MRD2 as a reader and the TMS37157 as a TAG. I see the frequencies are the same but what about protocols?
    Also, which are the differences between the RI-ACC-ADR2-10 and the RI-SMD-MRD2 ?
    The coils of the inductances that I have to design will go around a tube, so they will have a circular shape. Do you recommend any of the devices in particular or that doesn't affect the choice?

    the shape of your coil does not affect the choice. Both readers are fine for that.
    Both readers can handle the TM37157. The difference is in the software protocol that controls the reader.

    I would recommend the MRD2 reader module. This module is designed for use in customer applications.
    The ADR2 reader is designed as a demo reader in particular for automotive applications.
