RF430FRL152H: How to read the data from the patch into a PC?

Hi,

I am a beginner using the RF430FRL152H patch. I want to read the sensor data from the patch into my PC through a NFC/RFID card reader. Please let me know the the ways in which I can do this.I also have a R430FRL152HEVM. Also can I use a Arduino RFID card reader to access the data from the patch. The GUI supplied only works with the TRF7970AEVM which is not currently available. Please suggest some suitable alternatives for TRF7970AEVM.

Note: The TRF7970A-BNDL isn't properly setup in TI Store right now but it is the following two items:

Hello Muthukumar,

Those are the right parts but the items I linked are the EVM's that are made by TI to evaluate them, so you should order those EVM's.

Thanks for your explanation.

Could you please tell me if the RF430-TMPSNS-EVM patch based on RF430FRL152H will be activated only if it comes in contact with a TI made device or does it work with any NFC card reader out of the box without any initial programming or activation. I am asking this as it doesnot need any power source for operation and I just want to read the data coming out of it through a NFC reader.

Hello Muthukumar,

Most NFC readers will work with it immediately, but some older ones may not because they are not programmed to read data from the device when it is in the default 8 byte setting. If the device is changed to output data as 4 bytes then there should be no interoperability issues.

Note that for NFC readers, often they try and read NDEF information, if that is your intention then read Section 1.5 of our device FAQ for further details: www.ti.com/.../sloa247
