CC8530: 1 vs 2 protocol masters

Part Number: CC8530
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2590,

Hi -

We are developing a wireless audio system consisting of two remote microphone devices. Currently we are testing a prototype system, which has one CC8530 + CC2590 master, and two CC8530 + CC2590 slaves.  We are experiencing reduced range (30-40 feet) than we are hoping to achieve (60-70 feet).

Some details about the current setup:

*Each slave produces a single upstream audio channel.

*Two way data side channel is utilized for each microphone.

*Encoding = SLAC

*Sample Rate = 48Khz

*Bit depth = 16

*Max slave count = 2

*Latency - set to our maximum acceptable latency

My question:

Could we expect a performance / range improvement from implementing two masters, which each master connecting to a single slave?

My thinking here is that if each slave pairs with a single master, we could set the RF data rate to 2Mbps instead of 5Mbps, and restrict the number of slaves per master to 1.  From my understanding of the documentation, each of these could offer improvements, however I am unsure if these improvements would be negated by the coexistence of both masters.

Side note - We are additionally investigating alternate antennas, and implementing antenna diversity on each slave to achieve better range.
